Van Gogh Ceramic Coaster Set by John Beswick

A striking piece of art, this set of 4 coasters come with 4 rubber pads on the bottom to stop slippage and stops any scratching of the surface of the table.

These coasters contain 4 iconic image from Van Gogh:

Sunflowers: One of Van Gogh’s most recognisable works, this piece depicts one of the Sunflowers series of paintings completed in Arles in 1888 originally intended to welcome his friend Paul Gaugin and decorate his studio. Almond Tree in Blossom: In this piece, large blossom branches like this against a blue sky were one of Van Gogh’s favourite subjects. Almond trees flower early in the spring making them a symbol of new life. Van Gogh borrowed the subject, the bold outlines and the positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese printmaking. Irises: This piece depicts one of the Irises series of paintings completed in Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, the year before he died in 1890. The paintings are images of the hospital gardens, and the series was driven by Van Gogh’s belief that he would stop himself becoming insane by continuing to paint. Starry Night: The scene depicts the view from the east-facing window of Van Gogh’s room in the later years of his life. It is one of the most recognised works of art and was painted from Van Gogh’s memory.
