Love Knows No Bounds – Story Book Edition by Mark Davies

I felt compelled to create this piece as a fitting tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on learning of her passing. Not because I claim to be a die-hard ‘Royalist’ but because of the incredible connection that she had with so many people, for the majority it is all we have ever known. She was a truly remarkable woman and will be greatly missed and forever adored.

I, like so many others find a connection because of our grandmothers, mine – ‘Mary’ was a similar age when she passed and was a remarkable lady. I pride myself on creating art with meaning, and with ‘Love Knows No Bounds’ I feel that this is proudly personified.

What we see can be interpreted how you choose, the scene can either represent Her Majesty returning home in spirit or at a point in her lifetime. It really is how you choose to view the scene and what brings you most comfort.

I have strived to show the strength of connection and love between one another, be that her beloved Corgis, her majestic horses, and that wonderful little bear that we all love. There is also that sense of connection with Windsor and her love for all things that flower. A winding path cuts through the most beautiful of wild meadows as it twists towards the most amazing light behind the castle.

What I am so pleased with is how, whilst creating this piece, I learned how a beautiful shard of yellow and pink light shone down on Her Majesty’s coffin during the procession. That just makes what I have created even more perfect. For those who follow my work, you will know that I use butterflies regularly to represent being set free, whilst the sight of a white dove flying upwards towards another with wings open is something that I hope will connect with so many for many a different reason.

I felt an enormous pressure whilst creating what you now see because I am aware of the importance of doing Her Majesty justice and I am so proud of the results. I hope that this piece can be shared and enjoyed by so many and that it brings you much needed comfort, and joy. X
