Arthur Fleck Original by Deborah Cauchi
Deborah is a figurative artist who has a “healthy” obsession with Lego and vintage toys; inspiration comes from her own experiences relating to human emotions and memories of childhood.
She likes to take that long forgotten or much loved object and give it a moment in the spotlight. Paint is applied both figuratively and abstractly. Whilst all her paintings are representational, they are not limited to a particular style and the experimentation of the paint plays a major role in her art.
Arthur Fleck, later known as Joker, is a failed comedian who, following his great lack of success and respect, loses his mental stability until he becomes a nihilistic, sociopathic killer calling himself Joker, aiming himself to make Gotham smile in his way.
“Working primarily in oils my paintings are inspired by the human figure, portraiture and my love of nostalgic imagery. I take inspiration from vintage magazines, adverts and items from days gone by and through my work I explore deeply personal, psychological issues and emotional responses to contemporary life, I also draw on my own experiences relating to human emotions and memories of childhood. Paint is applied both figuratively and abstractly. Whilst all my paintings are representational, they are not limited to a particular style and the experimentation of the paint plays a major role in my art.” – Deborah Cauchi
