Description

African Tree Frog – Aqua Pink by Edge Sculpture

Each sculpture has been originally sculpted from clay, which allows the sculptor to be freer, giving the pieces the dynamic and organic fee, stylised by Edge Sculpture. The finished clay sculp ‘masters’ are then taken to be moulded, and each subsequent piece has been carefully hand cast from this mould using ceramic polystone, which allows for faithful reproduction of detail and texture applied to the original sculpt. the finishing touch is the skilful application of hand painting and finishing, which brings the sculpt to life. The end result is a centre piece and talking point in anyone’s living room!

Matt Buckley started off his sculpting career over 20 years ago having been afforded the opportunity to hone his craft by following in the footsteps of his step father, Robert Harrop, by working on the ‘Country Companions’ and later named ‘Doggie People’ range which have resided successfully to this day within the ‘giftware’ and ‘collectible’ industry for well over 25 years themselves.

Licensed figurines that Matt has both sculpted personally and directed include the Beano and Dandy, Camberwick Green, Roald Dahl, Bagpuss, 2000 AD, The Magic Roundabout, Mr Benn and Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Stingray, with many pieces being continually produced to this date.

Matt remains the Creative Director of Robert Harrop Designs LTD and indeed the skills and ability to manufacture quality figurines from within their family run company in Shropshire has enabled this very new collection of work to become a reality and Edge Sculpture to thrive.

This is a very new collection and very much at the beginning of its creative evolution and Matt indeed looks  forward to designing, sculpting and producing  many new concepts well into the future.

Odyssey of Oddities

Loving life hid beneath rim of cool ceramic bowl Tree frog claimed proud place, toilet’s homely hole Enamoured by his simple palace making stance I bend to peer at his green grip toe stick, entranced.
My ordinary admonished by gaze from onyx eyes Quick reflex and instinct, skills by which Frog relies Shine of black marble smartness lures me nearer Knowing even with my bulk, I’m somehow inferior.
Rubber eyelid winks, peels open again enlarged Eye wrinkles droop to hammock, I’m encouraged To nestle within humid folds, shrunk human glued Oscillated in his lid lures languishing duly pecured.
Spun suddenly, rubbery cocoon cosy lurches erratic Some worry occurs I’ll drown outside skin hammock Prior to paranoia taking over, thrown from dizzying ride Launched into stark big bowl with steep slippery sides.
Swim in cistern spew strangely renders me cleansed Lap in lurid blue sends me to inevitably to S bends Whooshed and flushed with refreshed perspective Dark harassed by diffused hues tug seductive.
Dolphin derived, my smooth unphased by spiralling Saturated zones, ease honed, enamour never tiring Snorkel hole snorts water, puffs readily on its purification Imbibing combines giddy with clarity, senses’ temptation.
My forehead flicked flirtatiously by wide flamingo flippers Splayed feathers fan surface, showcase dance floor shimmer Cabaret her costume, shakes crystal bead rainbow release Ravishing precise pirouettes prim pink princess completes.
Her curved beak caresses my porthole brain, rubs insistantly Into warm walnut shell weapon I’m swallowed quite quickly I spy through pomegranate seed eye, mirror lake unswayed Stilled kindly by wind’s non existance, decision to travel made.
Climbed to bird’s tiny tiara topped crest, covered in feathers Graceful lace tu- tu floats my aquatic future endeavour Bouyed weightless and grateful, flip draws no resistance Swim in S bend treasure, trip of sight resumed brilliance
