Robert Oxley Artist Appearance Exhibition 8th July 2017
ESSEX FINE ART FANS INVITED TO MEET AWARD WINNING ARTIST
AT LOCAL GALLERY M P GALLERY
M P Gallery, 21 Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester, ESSEX, CO1 1JJ
Award-winning contemporary artist,
Robert Oxley will be visiting M P Gallery
on Saturday 8th of July from 1-4pm to
launch a newly curated exhibition of
limited edition pieces as well as never
before seen show edition prints taken
from his new collection Instinct.
Taking inspiration from artists Robert
Crumb, Glenn Brown and Robert
Williams, Oxley’s Instinct works have a
psychedelic feel and take natural history
painting in a new direction, using zig-zag
edges and bold dripping paint.
Completely self-taught, Oxley’s art career
has gone from strength to strength since
he launched a publishing career with
Washington Green, the UK’s leading
fineart publishers, in 2015. This came after he
was a finalist in the IN:SIGHT campaign,
which seeks out the UK’s newest
emerging artistic talent and gives them
an opportunity to havetheir work
publicly showcased.
Prior to this, Oxley received a
commendation from the esteemed BBC
Wildlife Artist of the Year panel.
Robert Oxley said: “As with my previous
collections, I wanted to create
something loose and expressionistic yet
also controlled and detailed. The result
is work that looks like it was done
quickly but on inspection reveals that
every brushstroke is considered and
meticulously painted. Loose and free but
in fact complex is what nature is all about.”
M P Gallery said: “The meet the artist
event is set to be a fantastic afternoon
and we can’t wait to welcome one of
Washington Green’s best-selling artist to
the gallery.”
“Robert’s work has been a fond favourite
of our customers from when we first
opened our doors in October 2016.
We are truly looking forward to unveiling
some exclusive pieces to our collectors
and new customers, it will be interesting
to hear all about the inspiration behind
his collection.”
Prices start at £495. Visitors wishing to
attend the event and meet the artist
