The Woman Calling by Andrew Kinsman

Currently living in South London, Andrew divides his time equally between art and music.

Although he was drawn to art from a young age, he decided to focus on music after his first major art exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath at the age of 21. He went on to play and record with noted bands and singers from the British pop/rock scene. He then took up painting again and completed comissions for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Sultan Al Thani of Qatar, American actress Elisabeth Moss, and celebrity chef Éric Lanlard. However, his most prestigious commission to date was in 2012 when the Royal commissioned him to paint a series of eleven stamps to commemorate 150 years of Association Football.

After reading his parents’ Great Artists book collection, Andrew found himself drawn to landscape painting; particularly the works of the English Romantic painters, John Constable and J.M.W Turner. Fascinated by the Pre-Raphaelites and Aesthetes of the 19th century, he also studied the use of symbolism and mythology.

As his technique became more refined, Andrew turned his focus towards the Dutch Masters. It was within this genre that he discovered a deep appreciation for intense colour palettes, captured drama and realism. This passion to create believeable art is what drives him to this day.
