Ross Baines is an artist from Essex, U.K and is best known for his dynamic sports and portrait art, particularly martial arts and boxing.  Ross is 44 years old and lives by the coast with his wife, two daughters and French Bulldog, Dudley, where he paints in his custom built home studio.

Being a lifelong fan of combat sports he particularly enjoys painting explosive shots from Boxing and MMA fights while most of his other work features iconic characters from movies and the music industry He also enjoys occasionally painting abstract pieces and letting his creative juices flow. Ross produces much of his own original artwork, as well as taking on commissions from clients all over the world.

Ross had no formal art training beyond school so is essentially self-taught.

Ross’ artwork is predominantly painted on stretched canvas using his favourite medium acrylics.  Originally favouring a pop art style of painting Ross has over recent years developed his own dynamic styles which brings far greater detail to his work making his pieces more bold and distinctive with sublime texture and expression. Ross is never afraid to experiment with different tools and techniques so his work has evolved to incorporate a distinct yet evolving range of contemporary looks.

Ross has been working full time as an artist for the past 6 years, and prior to that around 8 years part time while also working as a full time decorator, although he’s been passionate about drawing and painting since his very early childhood.  His first commissioned work was aged just 18 when he started painting wall murals which eventually lead to putting paint to canvas. He gradually started building up a portfolio and set up an online business page which received some amazing feedback giving him the confidence to pursue his dream of being an artist with even more passion.

Ross’ first big break came in 2016 after he had an idea to create a painting of British boxer Nick Blackwell after he fell into a coma following a fight. Ross decided to paint something to auction and raise money for a GoFundMe charity set up for the fighter. In order to promote the auction Ross took to Twitter and to his surprise his work was soon shared by many top name boxers. Naturally he then felt compelled to upload more and more of his work onto Twitter and other social media which ultimately led to a bigger and bigger following and a surge in interest and commissions then before he knew it he was ready to take the plunge and finally ditch his old job for life as a full time professional artist.

Ross has shipped his artwork globally with the majority of clients being from the U.K. and America. Some of the many well known people who own Ross’ work include Harry Redknapp, Jorge Masvidal, Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz.
